Affordable Stopover in Seoul Toyoko INN Dongdaemun II Review

A Convenient Base Before Heading to India

On this trip, I made a stopover in Seoul on my way to India.
Although there are direct flights from Tokyo to New Delhi, I chose an itinerary that allowed me to make the most of my Star Alliance miles, which meant a night in Seoul before flying out of Incheon Airport the next day.

I took the familiar AREX train to Seoul Station, then transferred to Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station. For this short overnight stay, I booked a room at Toyoko INN Seoul Dongdaemun II. The price was reasonable, and since I just needed a place to sleep, it was the perfect choice.

By the way, Toyoko INN is a well-known Japanese business hotel chain. It’s famous for being clean, affordable, and super consistent—every location has pretty much the same layout and vibe, whether you’re in Tokyo or Seoul. For Japanese travelers, it feels incredibly familiar and comfortable, almost like staying at home.

Located just a one-minute walk from the station, it’s super convenient—even with heavy luggage.

From the outside, it’s unmistakably a Toyoko INN, which provides a great sense of comfort and familiarity for Japanese travelers.

Familiar Interior That Feels Just Like Japan

If no one told you this was overseas, you’d never guess.

The Surrounding Area

One of the most striking landmarks nearby is the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).

Dongdaemun Station is also within walking distance, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants around.

For lunch, I had a bowl of bibim-naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles).

Since I was flying to India the next day, I chose a warm, comforting Korean-style udon for dinner.

After that, I got a good night’s sleep at Toyoko INN to recharge for the next day’s flight.
